The food at Etoile is absolutely superb. It is fresh, fresh, fresh!!The fish, the meat, the lobster ravioli,  the salads, I could not tell you which is more delicious. The sauces are light and allow the food’s taste and texture to come alive. The sole and halibut are light and scrumptious, the short ribs are so tender and tasty you cut them with a fork.  The beet salad combination of arugula beets, flash fried goat cheese with almonds is so delectable that you will want to take your time eating it so you can enjoy the flavors. To add to the mouth-watering food, the staff at Etoile is first class, they welcome you to the restaurant as if it is their home. They get to know you and your will feel so welcomed that you will keep coming back to savory your palate and to visit the staff.

French native Philippe Verpiand, is the chef and owner of Etoile, he graduated first in his class from the French Culinary Institute in Avignon, he worked in numerous Michelin-starred restaurants in the French Riviera, Alps regions, Courchevel, Biarritz and in Normandy. From Europe Verpiand made his way to San Diego, where he served as Chef de Cuisine at the prestigious Tapanade Restaurant in La Jolla for more than seven years before opening Cavaillon Restaurant in the beautiful coastal hills of northern San Diego in 2005. With unassuming authentic French cuisine inspired by Chef Philippe’s hometown, Cavaillon quickly became recognized as one of San Diego’s top French restaurants. Chef Philippe and his lovely wife Monica have a true partnership, Chef Philippe runs the innovative kitchen and Monica runs the front of the house and operations. She’s also the creative visionary behind the beautifully designed elegant French farmhouse interior.
